As we reported as breaking news on El Paso Digest on Thursday night, Lily Limón was contacted by an El Paso Police Department detective over an alleged assault. Readers may remember our report of June 21, reporting that El Paso Democratic Party Chair, Dora Oaxaca alleged on KVIA that she was assaulted by Lily Limón at a Carl Robinson event.
According to sources who say they viewed the KVIA report, Oaxaca stated that a police report was filed. However, as of June 21, no police report had been filed, according to the police department.
On Thursday, Lily Limón was contacted by El Paso Police Detective Victor Ontiveros who asked to interview her. Limón was scheduled to meet with the detective on Monday morning, but she has asked for the interview to be rescheduled for a later date.
El Paso Politics has been unsuccessful in getting a copy of the police report. Because Vice-president Kamala Harris was in El Paso yesterday, police department officials, including Detective Ontiveros, were not available because the officers were providing security for the vice president.
According to Limón’s understanding, a police report was filed on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at 5:52 in the afternoon, a full week after the alleged incident occurred and seven days after Oaxaca reported the alleged incident to the news media.
El Paso Politics reviewed surveillance video of the event and found no indication that an assault had occurred. We also spoke to witnesses at the event who have categorically denied that an assault had occurred. Limón issued a statement to us denying that an assault had occurred.
Limón told us that she is in contact with an attorney and is exploring whether to file criminal charges against Dora Oaxaca for making a false police report and is also exploring filing a suit for a defamation suit.
As this is a developing story, we will continue to monitor it and report on this as more information becomes available.
