This morning Oscar Lesser, who is facing a runoff election against Dee Margo announced that all the mayoral candidates from November 3 have endorsed him for mayor.
Carlos Gallinar issued the following statement:
“Running for mayor was always about making El Paso a leading American city and ensuring that my children—and all future generations—could thrive, succeed, and prosper in the city they were born and raised. While this election is over for our campaign, we still have a greater obligation to work towards a brighter future for our community.
The work ahead begins with uniting behind one candidate for mayor. There are many challenges ahead for El Paso beginning with getting out of this pandemic, saving lives, and restoring our community’s health. We also need to assist small businesses and rebuild our local economy. We need to develop a robust Climate Change Plan so that El Paso can lead on solar and renewable energy and increase wages. As we think about the health of our residents, we need to develop a regional hike and bike trail system, create great urban parks, and preserve more open spaces—things to make our community healthier while inviting visitors to come to El Paso and support our small businesses. We need to fight for a city that competes for jobs, investment, and talent.
For these reasons and more, I will be voting for and supporting Mr. Oscar Leeser for Mayor of El Paso in the upcoming runoff election. And I am asking all El Paso voters to do the same.
In my recent conversations with Mr. Leeser, he has assured me that he will unite our community working with everyone, including those who may not have supported him, make climate change a priority while creating higher paying jobs, look to promote urban green spaces and collaborate with others to overcome obstacles. These were issues that were important to our campaign and our supporters and I am thankful to him for considering these things.
Mr. Leeser is clearly the best choice in this runoff election. He will be a proactive mayor that will make the tough decisions to get us out of COVID-19, unite our community, and get El Paso back on track.”
Mayoral candidates Calvin Zielsdorf and Dean “Dino” Martinez also endorsed Leeser.
“I know that Oscar will work hard to make sure that the City of El Paso is doing all that it can to combat and defeat COVID-19. He will protect our community and support small businesses as we continue to battle this pandemic. I am proud to stand with Oscar,” said Dean “Dino” Martinez, former candidate for Mayor of El Paso.
“I am proud to have the endorsements of prior candidates for mayor in the November election. Their support and belief in my ability to lead El Paso through these incredibly challenging times is greatly appreciated. I am ready to get to work for our community,” said Oscar Leeser. “This run-off election is incredibly important and will decide the path our city takes as we overcome the challenges that we are facing. Please come out and make your voice heard on December 12.”
