Early Voting Demographics – Part II, The Final Numbers

The Early Voting numbers are in. There is only one day left to cast your votes – Tuesday, November 3, 2020. As we discussed in our earlier post, because the national election is amply covered, we are focused on the mayoral race. As such, we analyzed the early voting for voters who cast votes in the city only.

Our methodology remains the same, we analyzed votes cast in the city limits. We also included mail-in ballots that arrived by Friday, October 30, 2020.

This is what we found.

A total of 188,954 votes were cast within the city limits.

As usual, more women than men cast a vote.

Men v. Women Votes

We also found that 25 women over 100 years-old cast a vote.

We noted very little change in the historical age groups of the voters.

Voters by Age Group

We wanted to know if there was any shift in voters because of the feud between Dee Margo and Ricardo Samaniego over the closure order issued late on Thursday, so we compared age groups for the early voting cycle to those cast on Friday. This is what we noted.

Comparison of Age Groups for Early Voting v. Friday Votes Cast

As there is some discussion about younger voters, we analyzed 18 year-old voters. We found that 1,991 18 year-olds cast a vote in early voting.

We thought some readers may find it interesting that 94,656 Catholics cast a vote during the early voting period.

We also looked at the ethnicity of the voters. This is what we found:

Stay tuned, tomorrow we will unveil our prediction on the mayoral race based on exit polling data. Many readers will be surprised. You do not want to miss it.
