Stanton street

This came in from a loyal reader: The other day I drove south on Stanton Street from Robinson to Montana.  It is now one lane each way.  Thanks to bike paths and the trolley, Stanton has been transformed into a congested mess.  At every traffic light it took at least two, and sometimes three, cycles […]

Baloney!

El Paso, Inc. attributed this remark to our city manager: “City Manager Tommy Gonzalez said the city is handling Firth?s departure like any other personnel matter.” Really? Let’s all go down to the city, get a job, get fired and collect a quarter of a million dollar payout. Baloney. We deserve better Brutus

Whose side was she on?

One of the theories about the payout to our former city attorney is that they city is paying her hush money to keep her from talking about various things that may have happened during her watch. I don’t know anyone who believes that she deserves the payout as part of a retirement deal. If the […]

The perils of always looking behind you...

Look, nobody takes more joy than me at the former city manager getting hammered in the press. Turnabout is fair play in this case. You may remember, she totally screwed a former employee that did nothing but tell the truth...

Does your boss buy you dinner?

This came in from Dan Wever: Red are when Board of Managers was in charge but Trustees had been elected.  I am sure they were taken out to dinner to make up for not being allowed to take office until May of 2015.  Superintendent Cabrera arrived in Sept. of 2013.  Of course the Superintendents contract […]

A step-by-step plan for denuclearizing North Korea

The recent news about the upcoming summit between President Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un on June 12 in Singapore is exciting and encouraging. It would not have seemed remotely possible a year ago?or even six months ago. Back then, war seemed much more likely. It is impossible to know whether the decision to hold a…

If you don't want to get sued... stop trying to get sued

I have to question how big the shared brain over at city council is these days. Why in the hell would they let the El Paso Times get ahold of the former city attorney's personnel file and then let them...
